Is BMW engine oil service required? If you are unsure when your BMW needs a specific maintenance task or you’re curious to know the answer to how often should a BMW 3 Series be serviced, the guide below can be of assistance to you.
You will be notified by the BMW Service Interval System when an oil change is needed. This task should be scheduled every 7,500 miles. The BMW Intermediate Oil Service includes a full oil change and oil filter replacement. When following the BMW maintenance program, you will notice that BMW oil change intervals are the most important as well as the least costly and most frequently performed service. Due to their impeccable craftsmanship, BMW vehicles require an oil change less often than many other makes!
If you drive a newer BMW vehicle, this Minor Service inspection is recommended by the manufacturer every 30,000 miles, 90,000 miles, and 150,000 miles. For older BMW models, it is recommended that this service be performed more frequently. During this service, our BMW experts will check the engine temperature, power steering system, and rear axle. They will also inspect the transmission for leaks. In addition, our service team also cleans the brake pads, checks the brake disc surfaces, and examines the thickness of your brake pads. They will also check the tires, wheels, interior, and under the hood to ensure your BMW is in great condition from top to bottom.
This second inspection is considered Major Service and for most BMW owners, this should be performed at 60,000 miles and 120,000 miles. BMW Inspection 2 includes the tasks listed above, plus additional services like an inspection of the parking brake lining and car body for rust, replacement of spark plugs and air filters, and an examination of flexible boots for leaks.
